Capt. Mark Waddey of the Brentwood Fire Dept. coughs while checking the progress of a fire he ignited on the second floor of a house donated for training purposes. Within minutes dark smoke filled the upper portion of the house and soot began to run down the walls. A flare downstairs served as temporary light while fire officials prepared the house on Old Smyrna Road for the burn.
