Shelley Mays has been a photojournalist at The Tennessean since 1996. Before joining the downtown photo staff in 2002, she worked at Williamson AM/Tennessean.

Born in Miami, Shelley’s childhood was spent in Florida’s Gulf Coast, Phoenix, AZ and Chattanooga. After graduation from Middle Tennessee State University, she worked at the Chattanooga Times for two years.

Shelley has won several NPPA Regional awards and a NPPA national award along with two first place Tenn. Press Assoc. awards.

Shelley is married, has one child, enjoys the outdoors and finding cool stuff at auctions and yard sales.
