As
a native of Nashville George Walker grew up always wanting to be a photographer
at THE TENNESSEAN. After studying photography at Middle Tennessee State
and Western Kentucky Universities he joined THE TENNESSEAN photography
staff in 1993. In the years since he has had a great deal of opportunity
to see parts of Nashville he would never be able to see under normal circumstances.
On a normal day at THE TENNESSEAN he has moved from the horrors of a crime
scene to the halls of the capital and to the locker room of the professional
athletes. Walker has enjoyed being the Oilers/Titans beat photographer
since 1997. He has also covered NCAA basketball championships, a Super
Bowl, and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Walker has received
awards from the National Press Photographers Association, the Nations
Football League Hall of Fame, and the Tennessee Associated Press.
